On the JJ Barnes Blog, as the finals of the Champions League approaches, I decided to check out which are the most photogenic Champions League stadiums.
Liverpool
Since 2014, when I met Jonathan McKinney, I have been a fully signed up fan of LFC. Prior to 2014, I had little to no interest in anything sports related, so I’ll never claim to have Gold Star Fan status, however, I’m loving my fandom now. We watch together as a family, with the girls cheering the goals and morning the mistakes, and, in my case at least, regularly pledge my love and devotion of the beautiful Jürgen Klopp. My girls proudly wear their Liverpool onesies, I’ve stolen many of Jon’s football shirts, and even my mother is getting on board with the football supporting fun!
Unfortunately, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. They lost the main leg 2-0 at Anfield, and they couldn’t topple the shortfall in the subsequent leg, drawing 1-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
It was a frustrating finish to Liverpool’s Champions League, but they are still in contention for both Premier League and FA Cup trophies, so we’ll just focus our energy on that now.
Photogenic Stadiums
However, as the football continues, despite our loss, it has me pondering less about which football team will win, and more about which stadium I’d most like to see in person.
To help me add to my travel-to-do list, Ticketgum.com shared which of the Champions League stadiums had the most photographs because the quarterfinals of 2022/23 Champions League. They are now able to determine which stadiums are the most popular to photograph by aggregating the total number of hashtags used on Instagram for each venue.
Barcelona’s Camp Nou
Because it has more than 2 million Instagram hashtags, Ticketgum.com can say that Barcelona’s Camp Nou is the most memorable Champions League stadium. Despite hosting in the group stages, Barcelona’s home stadium did not advance to the round of 16.
Liverpool’s Anfield
In second is Liverpool’s Anfield (Britain) with 1,643,400 hashtags, which facilitated the Frankfurt v Napoli game in the round of 16. We already know Anfield is a fantastic stadium, but it’s good to see it is being recognised by the fandom internationally!
Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu
Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu is likewise an area of interest among football fans as it comes to more than 700,000 Instagram hashtags. With a flow seating limit of 81,044, It is the second-biggest arena in Spain, holding the Quarter Last between host group Genuine Madrid and Chelsea on twelfth April.
A.C. and Inter Milan’s San Siro
With 1,421,344 Instagram hashtags, the San Siro Stadium of A.C. and Inter Milan comes in third. The San Siro is going to be transformed into a brand-new stadium that will be called “The Cathedral.” It will be located in a neighborhood next to the current arena that is dedicated to recreation and sports. The quarterfinal matchup between AC Milan and Napoli will take place on April 12 at the San Siro.
