On the JJ Barnes Blog, I check out research from jeffbet.com about how Wednesday on Netflix has brought The Cramps to a whole new audience who want to dance to Goo Goo Muck.

I grew up with The Addams Family, and my little gothic heart adored Christina Ricci’s portrayal of Wednesday. Now, my childhood icon has been brought to a new generation, who are discovering not only the characters of my youth, but the music too!

Goo Goo Muck

Experts at Jeffbet.com analysed Google search data to find that global searches for 80’s pop/rock band The Cramps have soared by 464% since Wednesday, launched, as fans are increasingly desperate to learn the dance routine to “Goo Goo Muck”.

The show aired on November the 23rd, however it was episode 4, which saw a remarkable dance scene performed to the song, whcih caused searches for ‘Goo Goo Muck dance’ to increased by 426%.

Searches for Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary have also increased by 132.5% globally, as TikTok users have been recreating the dance moves to this sound track, despite it not featuring on the show.

As well as Google data, Spotify records show that Goo Goo Muck now has 10,397,335 hits as of Tuesday December the 6th, and according to Billboard, the song has seen a 5000% increase in US streams from the 23rd to the 28th of November, going from 2,500 daily streams to 134,000.

TV Music

“It’s always interesting to see how TV shows influence the music we stream, and this is a great example of how an 80’s hit can make a huge revival,” said an entertainment expert from Jeffbet.com. “Earlier this year, Kate Bush’s track ‘Running up a hill’ saw huge success from Stranger Things 4, and it looks as though ‘Goo Goo Muck’ is set to follow suit.”
