First off, the price is a major win. It’s incredibly affordable, making it an easy impulse buy if you’re curious about trying something new. I ordered mine online, and while the cost was budget-friendly, I’ll warn you: delivery was slooooow. It took longer than I’d hoped to arrive, so if you’re impatient like me, you might want to plan ahead and order well before you need it. That said, once it showed up, I was excited to dig in.

How It Works (and How I Use It)

Chinese Lipstick Paper is a bit of a learning curve. Essentially, it’s a thin sheet of pigmented paper that you apply to your lips to transfer the colour. There are tons of opinions out there on the “right” way to use it—some recommend licking your lips and pressing them onto the paper, others suggest wetting it with micellar water or regular tap water before applying. I’ve tried a few methods, and for me, wetting the paper with regular tap water and then pressing my lips onto it works best. It’s easy, the colour transfers evenly, and it lasts impressively long.

Now, I’ll admit: the experts might roll their eyes at my technique. There are strong opinions about how this product should be used, and I’m no beauty guru. Packaging: Cute but Deceptive

The lipstick paper comes in an adorable little box that I absolutely adore—it’s compact and feels special to open. At first, I was disappointed because the box is much deeper than the stack of paper inside, so I assumed I’d get more sheets than I did. But once I realised how effective it is (and that I could reuse it), that initial letdown faded. It’s still worth it in my book.

My Verdict

I really like this product. It’s a bright, fun shade that lasts all day, and once you get past the slightly fiddly application, it’s easy to use. Unlike other lipsticks I’ve tried, it doesn’t wear off halfway through the day or leave me reapplying every hour. My daughters, on the other hand, aren’t fans—they think I look “weird” with it on, but I chalk that up to me rarely wearing lipstick. I think it’s a flattering enhancement of my natural look, and I’ve grown to love how bold yet wearable it feels.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely—as long as you’re willing to practice and don’t mind the occasional stained finger while you figure it out. It’s not perfect, but for the price, the staying power, and the unique experience, Chinese Lipstick Paper has won me over.
